This house is set on the rise of the first dune in the beach suburb of Cottesloe, with views over its neighbours to the beach and the sea. The street runs parallel to the beach and consists of homes of mixed vintages and surprising modesty, especially considering the high property values. This is the first new house in the street for at least 25 years and sets its own agenda. It develops from a modestly scaled studio garage, accessed from the right at the rear of the house, to the elevated two-storey dramatic presentation at the street. The main house focuses on the west and north-west views and the curved wall/roof form on the south provides shelter from south-west storms without any significant sacrifice of outlook.
