This little rehearsal building can be found on a gently sloping site behind the village school. The programme is spread over two floors. The upper level is given to the practice space which occupies the whole floor. It is free of internal walls and columns, making it flexible and capable of accommodating other functions. The lower level contains storage, and toilet facilities. Wood features heavily throughout. It is used extensively on the inside. Along with wooden floors, perforated panels line the walls and ceilings to control acoustics. The exterior is clad with plywood sheets. In order to keep costs to a minimum, these panels have been simply treated with water-proofing and are only expected to last about ten years. The large windows are fixed, but discrete hinged hopper panels, located around the outside of the building, can be opened to provide ventilation.
How to get there?
The rehearsal room can be found behind the school, located at the corner of Furxstrasse and Kirchstrasse. It is not clearly visible from either road, although the rear elevation can be seen in the distance across the fields from the church. A small path leads down the far or east (right-hand) side of the school building, to the project.
