Top of Tirol Gipfelplattfrom
Astearchitecture has completed a mountain-top viewing platform above a glacier in Tyrol, Austria. This perilous-looking viewing platform is located at a staggering height of 3200m. The outlook projects brave observers 9 meters into thin air- literally. Even through blowing snow and frigid temperatures, spectators are drawn to the summit platform on the Großer Isidor for the fascinating view. “The viewing platform at the Isidor is drawing in snow, is architecture as ridge transformer. A construction in interdependency with the landscape, influencing and coin each other. By orchestration and oversubscription of the existing topography occurs by landscape formed architecture – artificial landscape – communicating between dynamic and static, between deadlock and transformation. Trail and platform are placed in brittle rock; the lamellae will disappear in the snow for six month a year. Only the cantilevering swords over the north wall will be visible fort he whole year.”
