By using local materials and resources like bamboo for constructions, earth for walls and foundations, straw for the roofs and jute rope, architects Anna Heringer (UFG Linz) and Eike Roswag (TU Berlin) tried to improve existing building techniques and to contribute to sustainability and strengthen regional identity in Bangladesh. The school was built by hand from September to December 2005.
