Social Housing Croix Rousse

The street elevation of this social housing project in Lyon is a reminiscence of the traditional working spaces of this area with ceiling heights of about 3.50/4.00m. In order to remind those typical surrounding buildings, two storeys are connected visually into a system of narrow and high windows with wooden shutters. The clear and simple repetition of those windows gives the building an "industrial" touch. The backyard elevation is completely different with a sculptural system of an open concrete circulation plugged against the building.
