Kaistrasse 16

This building forms one end point to a riverfront series of new and renovated buildings in the port area of Düsseldorf, Germany. The area still retains a number of elements from its more industrial past - shipping cranes, cobbled streets, and simple unadorned warehouse buildings - but increasingly this atmosphere has been lost beneath the over-sized forms and uniform cladding systems of more recent commercial developments. Looking to reverse this trend, the studios have been designed in such a way as to return to the scale and materiality of the older, dockland vernacular.
