Side by Side

Located on the border between the city centre and the Weerwater this two residential towers take a key position in the urban landscape of Almere center. To strengthen this 'sign-character' there is deliberately chosen for a very abstract materialization of the facades in industrial glass. Closer, the mosaic of frames shows the wealth of more than 20 different housing types. The plinth is a wide range of community facilities, including a wintergarden, a sauna and fitness facilities. Side by Side is a development with a close collaboration between client, architect and Blitta. For this work a complete prefabricated facade was developed in a separate profile system. In addition to this, for the first time glass construction boards were factorymade and processed.. Because of the non-repetitive nature of the façade, the façade was carried out in various widths.
