HU Amersfoort
The transparent substructure of the ground floor and the main floor forms a large show case, which makes this building recognisable as an educational institute. The ground floor and partly the first floor have a public character. On the ground floor a restaurant is located, which has the unique appearance of a covered schoolyard.
The various sections in the building are - where possible '-visually related. Many horizontal and vertical sight lines are incorporated in the concept, for spatial orientation and to create a steric perspective. The open structure of the building can also be noticed clearly from the outside. Curtain walls are implemented in three remarkable white boxes that are placed in the gable, one box (12 x 24 meter), about the height of the grandstand with inside the auditorium and two are placed in the gable along the street. The largest of these two (23 x 15 meter) rises highly above the building. The boxes have are designed with a white framework.
