The set-up of this office building is as simple as it is functional. The front-house with entrance is situated on the Steigereiland-side, and the back-house is orientated towards the traffic on the highway A10 and the entrance bridge to the new residential islands of IJburg. Dedato architects have built several office buildings with this prefab concrete system (it’s cheap, efficient, fast, reduces execution time and building costs), but even though, with this rigid ‘copy-paste’ product they manage to make attractive designs, that differ from each other. Of course the location is (once again) very attractive. Betronic was one of the first companies to settle on the mainly residential reclaimed lands, east of the centre of Amsterdam. To the inhabitants of the islands, the firm and its occupation on the island is a bit of a mystery. The electronics manufacturer has 70 people working in this distinct building; this makes it the largest employer in IJburg.
