IJburg Block 47
Blok 47 is situated on the east section of the Haveneiland (Harbour Island). The block is cut in two by a canal; to the east there is a park while a harbour lies to the west.
The block comprises 169 housing units, 1.650 m2 of commercial space, 2.050 m2 of office space, and 97 parking spaces in an underground car park.
It's a powerful, elegant building with an exceptional expression. The vertical relief of the brickwork emphasizes the impression of mass and weight. Seen from an angle, the façade gives a completely different impression than when viewed from the front.
