Quist was asked to design a water tower with a capacity of 1500 m³. Quist decided to construct three white steel spherical water tanks each with a diameter of ten meters and a capacity of 500 m³. The three balls were placed on different heights on the steel structure, and the whole structure is about 44 metre high. Because Quist clearly wanted to show how the watertower was put together, the connection lines remained visible. In 2000, the proposal of the city of Eindhoven to transform the three white balls into three giant footballs - as part of the European Championship held in the Netherlands - led to great protests from the architect, and was called off.
