Tax Office Helmond
The building is deliberately embedded in the urban context of the station forecourt in Helmond. The western façade bends from the main direction of the building at a slight angle, and turns towards the station, thus creating an urban wall that contributes to the demarcation of the forecourt. The office is robust, with simple and consistent details. The solid character of the red brick façade is confirmed by the deeply recessed window openings with pronounced reveals which incorporate the external sun blinds.
As for the internal structure of the building, the schedule imposed in line with market conditions has been accepted as a fact. Only the programmed sections that truly stand out, such as the restaurant with its roof terrace and the entrance with desk functions, deviate in the interior and exterior and have been recognisably treated. Responsible project architect within OD 205 was Martien Jansen.
