Block 3 & 4 - Lenculenhof Care Centre with Housing

The urban improvement area extends from Patersbaan along the Abtstraat to the Calvariestraat. The plan provides for expansion and renovation of a nursing home with sheltered accommodation units as well as private town houses, an underground car park and two squares. This city district has been transformed from a sombre, partially inaccessible area into a pleasant oasis of peace and quietness. The confrontation between the historic and new modern buildings brightens the area into a contemporary old city district. The project was awarded the Victor de Stuers Prize, the architecture prize for the city of Maastricht, in 2006.
