Located in the port of Stavanger, The Norwegian Petroleum Museum was opened on 20 May 1999 and its unusual architecture has made it a new, exciting landmark. The museum covers multiple exhibitions, such as the geological history of oil in Norway and innovative drilling solutions on the Norwegian continental shelf. Located in the building are also a shop, conference facilities and a café.

Opening hours 1 June - 31 August: Open daily 10.00 - 19.00. 1 September - 31 May: Monday - Saturday 10.00 - 16.00 / Sunday 10.00 - 18.00. During the Christmas holidays, the Museum is closed on 24, 25, 31 December and 1 January. At Easter, the Museum is closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Closed on 17 May.
