The old town of Kolobrzeg, destroyed for 90 % during WWII, was reconstructed in the 1980s. Only the most important historic monuments had been preserved earlier, including a Neo-Gothic town hall by Schinkel. Blocks of flats were built along the line of the defensive walls and a factory was erected right by the market square. In 2005, the abandoned factory hall was adapted for a shopping mall. In scale, building alignment and vertical divisions of its elevations, it refers to the neighbouring houses. Individual segments are interconnected by a common ground floor and crowning (text from Architektura Murator 10/2006).
