If you wish to experience Belgrade, you will need to experience the space formed by its rivers, the Sava and the Danube. Here you´ll find the city´s ambivalent soul, vast and welcoming but wary by its history and previous conquerors. The city is distant and still does not dare approach its neglected river banks. Otherwise, more and more passenger vessels visit the city, berthing at the new Sava port, overlooked by the mighty Kalemegdan fortress and the charming old neighborhood of Kosancicev Venac. The new Sava port accommodates the international passenger terminal with the police and customs control, several shops and sanitary facilities arranged with a clear and linear design. It fits very sensitively and unobtrusively into its surroundings. Raised on pontoons, adopting the height of the adjacent river bank, the floating and transparent structure is almost invisible, accentuated only by two lighthouses. The best architecture is that which one can not see, Roland Rainer once said.
