Historical Station of Tibidabo Funicular
The lower station of the Tibidabo's funicular was created as the starting point to come up the Tibidabo's mountain. With the birth of the Amusement Park this station simultaneously became the parks' new entrance, maintaining the quality of train station. The will of being the new entrance to the Park makes us to present an hazardous but very clear proposal, which is, to be the entrance hall to the magic and the illusion waiting on the top of the mountain. The architects tried to understand the place, a surprising place; a house for a train that at the same time is a house without rooms or closed spaces, only a single space as entrance giving the welcome to the Amusement Park. This double reality is really amazing: on one hand, the space is perceived to protect the train, but on the other hand the common domestic architecture for a train station is also understood.
