This project was part of a larger masterplan for the Olympic Port of Barcelona, and urban plan which balances between the needs for a leisure port and a centre of new urban activities, forming a new 'wet' square for the city. The sailing school's main premises are situated beneath the raised north-east promenade. The school's boathouse, sited in the building, acts as the termination of the raised north-east promenade and the linchpin of the connection with the linear system of breakwaters. The building is composed of two volumes with brilliant white façades, crowned with a total of 24 pyramids which resolve the problems of permanent lighting, ventilation and protection from the water. The group of pyramids articulates a relatively private square intended for warm-up exercises prior to sailing, with direct access to the sea by means of a slipway, which makes unnecessary to leave through the harbour mouth.
