Museo Dinastía Vivanco
The approach to the Dinastía Vivanco Museum of the Culture of Wine was designed to create a pleasant mixture of sensations and surprises. Once past the gateway visitors are unsure whether to feel surprised or confused by what they see; but what they do feel is a desire, an invitation to visit the museum. Standing ahead is an architectural complex of an apparently classical style. Or is it? Perhaps it is a false impression. Once the tour is over, the rational behind the design will become clear and the feeling of mix up will disappear. The octagonal columned room, with its one hundred and eleven columns, is a magical space of tenuous, silent and poignant light. The roof, constructed from overlapping sheets of fair-faced concrete, gradually becomes narrower and higher as it approaches the centre. A clear-cut structure supports the central cylinder, allowing the exterior light to gently illuminate the interior. In this museum, everything has its raison d'être, everything serves a purpose.
