Interior design and architecture, Puerta America brings together 19 of the world's finest architects and designers—including Zaha Hadid, John Pawson, and Norman Foster. Each of the hotel's 12 floors bears the imprint of a different design talent and measures 1300 m2. The only constraint was that each had to contain 28 rooms and 2 junior suites. The external structure was developed by SGA Studio and is a fairly standard rectangular tower block. John Pawson did the common areas, while Jean Nouvel designed the cladding on the facade and the 12th floor. Richard Gluckman (Gluckman Mayner Architects) designed the 9th and decided to create a space in which one could be comfortable and relaxed in an anonymous way. From the outset, Gluckman wanted to differentiate the experience of being in a hotel room from that of being at home.
