In a privileged location in the Madrid area, the site is situated on the edge of the city, against a peaceful backdrop with views of the horizon that contrast with the dense city skyline to the rear. The geometry of the site and its elevations suggested concentrating the permitted floor surface on the upper storeys. The volume resulting from the permitted floorsize within the set limits is a cuboid 80 m long, 30 m wide and 18 m high. Working on this basis, the strategy aimed for the most open-plan ground floor possible to create a seamless porch, a shadow lifting the building off the ground. The plot is surrounded by an area of landscaped gardens which reduces the impact of the building and enhances the surrounding park. Mounted on the roof are the air conditioning equipment and energy plants to ventilate, heat and cool the building.
