The project proposes a new reading of the space. Instead of seeing it as the sum of different places (street and square), it addresses a single empty space in which a huge sculpture is set, becoming a square with its limits, its buildings and the church, the main feature. The paving is conceived as a continuous flow throughout the outdoor space, leaving a ripple of gentle waves made by basalt slabs. This dynamic effect underpins a space that is designed and enjoyed from the point of view of movement. The church now opens up to the exterior. It is given new additions in travertine marble that emerge from the inside and open up to the village in the form of platforms. The colour and texture of which create a link with the facades and at the same time contrast with the black basalt of the square. The use of artificial light emphasizes some of its distinctive features. Its new additions are lit from beneath the benches, like screens creating a diffuse effect on the white travertine paving.
