La Corita in Valdemoro is surrounded on three sides by houses. Its fourth side faces the street but is well hidden behind a concrete wall. This wall and the façade of vertical dark green Trespa panels and narrow windows give it the defensive look of a fortress. Once one has passed through a small metal door and entered the courtyard, this image changes: the building opens up towards the patio with a continuous polycarbonate façade. This material gives the structure a light aspect which is contrasted again by a thick, flat roof which seems to pin the whole building to the ground. Inside the building, the floor and lower parts of the walls are patterned with colours and surface textures. This concept was used in the design of the patio as well, with its rectangular areas of sand, rubber and plants. The idea behind this is to stimulate the children's imagination, a theme that is continued in the red, green, yellow and blue ceiling skylights, filtering daylight to all corners of the rooms.
