Villajoyosa Public Market

The design of this concrete structure in Villajoyosa was determined by two factors. The first is repetition and rotation, where a module of 22 x 7.20 metres is repeated 10 times and rotated 180º each time according to a central axis. The second is the construction of a rooftop consisting of two layers, taking advantage of the edge of the beams that produces a great difference in scale in the middle, allowing the entrance of light in the middle section of the building. A broken skyline of the building is obtained in both streets, enhancing perspective effects and the control of scale with respect to the dense and unorganized edification that surrounds it (text from architect's website).
