Riverbend is a four-building, 624-unit middle income housing development produced through the Mitchell-Lama program. Access is varied among the buildings (two highrises and two lowrise) and includes standard interior circulation as well as exterior galleries, derived from Corbusier's "streets in the sky". Every apartment accessed from these galleries includes a small semiprivate front porch area. Nearly all units, some of which are duplexes, have private balconies, contributing to tenants' sense of ownership. The development's major communal space is an elevated plaza between the buildings.
